things to do

Located in the heart of the Devonshire countryside, Woodland Camping offers all of the highlights of a Westcountry county.

A five-minute drive from Ashburton, an ancient town thriving with unique shops, pubs and restaurants, our small hideaway is on the doorstep of Dartmoor National Park. Open grasslands and deep river valleys span the wild landscape of Dartmoor, offering visitors breath-taking views, rare wildlife, and unforgettable walks.

If you follow the River Dart downstream, you will encounter the historic market town of Totnes, famous for its vibrant community, breath-taking countryside, and 14th century Norman castle. Whilst visiting Totnes, we recommend taking a relaxing walk along the banks of the river to the beautiful Dartington Hall and gardens. Home to the "Ways with Words" festival, Dartington Hall features innovative courses and workshops throughout the year.

We are only a short drive away from the south coast of Devon. Thanks to our brilliant location, visitors have the opportunity to explore a range of seaside towns and villages such as Shaldon, Teignmouth, Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, and Dartmouth. We recommend trying Hanbury's award winning fish and chips in Babbacombe (Torquay), taking a walk along the South Devon Coast Path to Brixham's Berry Head, or visiting Greenway House in Churston; the beloved holiday home of Agatha Christie.

Whilst on site, visitors will experience views over the surrounding countryside of Teignbridge and South Hams. Woodland Camping features a communal fire pit, where visitors can meet and socialise with like-minded campers.

During the summer months, the local area offers a range of cultural events, such as Glas-Denbury Music and Arts Festival in Denbury, Abbfest Charity Food and Drink Festival in Ipplepen, Tuckers Maltings Beer Festival in Newton Abbot.

Whether you're looking for a relaxed break in the countryside, or your next adventure, Woodland Camping is the perfect base to pitch your tent.
